Oxidation
Oxidation describes the degradation of omega-3 oil by oxygen. Freshness and stability are core quality traits — measured via TOTOX, peroxide value (PV) and anisidine value (AnV).
TOTOX
< 26
Peroxide value (PV)
< 10
Anisidine value (AnV)
< 30
Why it matters
Omega-3 fatty acids are sensitive to oxygen, light and heat. Oxidised oil loses efficacy and can be detrimental. TOTOX = PV × 2 + AnV is the established summary value for oxidative load.
How MVS checks it
MVS documents TOTOX, PV and AnV per batch where publicly available — linked to CoA sources. Missing disclosure is not a quality judgement.
